How to Prepare for Your Scan
A few simple steps make sure your results are accurate. Please read these before your appointment.
- ✓Nothing by mouth for 4 hours before your liver scan.
- ✓Take your medications as usual before the scan — with 4–6 oz of water only.
- ✓Wear a loose-fitting top or shirt — no dresses, please.
- ✓Arrive on time for your scheduled appointment.
- ✓No pacemakers. This screening is not available to anyone with a pacemaker.

MacArthur Gastroenterology is a specialized Oakland practice focused on digestive and liver health, with a preventive-medicine approach to patient care. Dr. Ralph L.
